The Vietnamese Government always pays attention to macroeconomic reforms during both the economic shifting process and in the current economic development of Vietnam. Therefore, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany always included supportive actions to the Macroeconomic Reform Programme in their negotiations from 2005 to 2014, and adopted a National Green Growth since 2014.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment is the lead executing agency of the macroeconomic Reforms/Green Growth Programme, with the participation of economic policy-making top-tiers in Vietnam such as the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the State Bank of Viet Nam (SBV), and the State Securities Commission (SSC). This achieved successful results and was highly appreciated by the Governments of both countries. The German Development Cooperation (GIZ) was authorized by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to implement the Programme in Vietnam.
Dr. Michael Krakowski was appointed by GIZ as the Programme Chief Technical Advisor since 2011 and had many valuable contributions in the Programme’s management. As a result, the Governmental sponsored agencies have completed their tasks and been advised to promulgate macroeconomic policies to increasingly develop the economy.
