Fiscal and financial policy reforms as drivers for transforming the growth model and restructuring the economy in Viet Nam

The Vietnam Finance Forum is an important annual event allowing key stakeholders to evaluate ongoing reforms in the fiscal and financial sector, paving the way for new initiatives on major economic and financial issues.

The Forum 2019 focused on the following issues:

  1. Identification of the current situation of Viet Nam's growth model and economic structure and orientation of solutions to renovate the growth model and restructure the economy in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045;
  2. Assessment of the contribution of financial policy in the past 10 years to the growth model innovation process, and identification of bottlenecks/barriers in financial policies in general and in some sectors in particular;
  3. Proposal of breakthrough and synchronous reforms of financial policies in order to create a motivation for growth model renewal and economic restructuring.

The event was opened and chaired by Vice-Minister of Finance Mr. Do Hoang Anh Tuan, Dr. Sebastian Paust, First Counsellor, Head of Development Cooperation of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Viet Nam delivered the opening remarks. He congratulated the MoF leadership for the success achieved in the implementation of the Finance Development Strategy until 2020. Dr. PAUST reiterated Germany’s commitment and long-standing cooperation with the Vietnamese government and the MoF, providing for an exchange of experiences as well as technical assistance.
