(Hochiminh City) 31 May 2019 – A consultation workshop on the draft decree amending the Decree No. 154/2016/NĐ-CP on Environmental Protection Charge for Waste Water was organized by the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam with support from the GIZ Macroeconomic Reforms/Green Growth Programme. Participants in the workshop are representatives from the Departments of Finance, the Departments of Construction, the Departments of Natural Resource and Environment and Tax Departments of 6 provinces in the South of Viet Nam.    

The discussion by participants in the workshop focused on topics relating to the objects of the environmental protection charge for waste water, the objects which are exempted of environmental protection charge, as well as the various charge levels. Comments and recommendations by the participants will be carefully considered during finalisation of the draft decree. It is planned that the draft decree will be submitted to the Government for approval in October 2019 and come to effect from 01.01.2020.
